Rest In Peace Hulk Hogan
|What can be said that hasn’t already been said in the past few days about arguably the greatest performer in pro wrestling history? As stated numerous times recently by Triple H, there would be no WWE or pro wrestling as we know it without Hulk Hogan. While many remain fixated on the mistakes Terry Bollea made in his personal life, the name Hulk Hogan will forever be synonymous with pro wrestling.
The outpouring of reactions since Hulk Hogan’s passing on July 25th at the age of 71 has been beyond anything we’ve seen before – from numerous wrestlers and wrestling personalities to other celebrities from sports and entertainment, Hulk Hogan touched lives more than anyone could have ever imagined. Hulk Hogan was pop culture in the ’80s and fit right in with the other faces of the era. When Hulkamania wasn’t cool anymore in the mid-90s, Hogan turned things upside down and became cool again, especially for those who grew up with him. Hollywood Hogan and the nWo changed the game, and suddenly, Hulk had another record-breaking, historic run.
In 2002, when it seemed like Hulk’s career was over, nostalgia won, and at 48 years old, Hulk Hogan had another legendary WrestleMania match against The Rock. The love for Hogan couldn’t be denied, and a run of matches still entertained crowds in the following years.
Wrestling will never feel the same without Hulk Hogan as part of it, but, as we’ve seen already, his legacy will live on forever as merchandise and action figures continue to be created and will be a major part of remembering one of the most legendary figures in pro wrestling history.
