AEW Star Brodie Lee Passes Away

R.I.P. Brodie Lee

Shocking and sad news to report tonight especially given it’s the holiday season – AEW star Brodie Lee (Jonathan Huber) has passed away at the age of 41.

This news really came out of nowhere as it seems like Lee had barely been off AEW TV and was just in a series of high-profile matches on AEW Dynamite. In fact, just this past October Lee was the AEW TNT Champion and took time off after losing the title back to Cody Rhodes in a memorable dog collar match.

Of course non-AEW fans would remember Lee as “Luke Harper” in WWE where he had a 7 year run between the main roster and NXT. While Harper always seemed like he had main event potential but simply never got that type of spot in WWE. Although he never had a main event push as a singles competitor in WWE, Harper was undoubtedly a cornerstone of “The Wyatt Family” throughout his time there.

When Lee came to AEW as “The Exalted One” this past March, it seemed like Harper was going going to be a major player. Soon after Lee was revealed as the leader of AEW’s “Dark Order,” it seemed like the group became one of the company’s most entertaining acts both on TNT as well as on “Being the Elite” on YouTube. Sadly, Lee is gone far too soon and will undoubtedly be looked back on as someone in pro wrestling we wished we could have seen reach his full potential.

Sadly, Jonathan Huber leaves behind a wife and children whose loss is far greater than that of pro wrestling. Huber’s wife noted that he passed away from a “non-COVID” related lung issue.
