We’re coming off a packed weekend of pro wrestling action, but as luck would have it, the aftermath of the actual wrestling is what has everyone talking.
Last night following AEW’s All Out PPV from Chicago, the company held their traditional media scrum following the event. As soon as it went live, the new AEW champion CM Punk was at the mic and was immediately set off by a question about his former friend Colt Cabana.
For those unaware, there was a messy end to Punk and Cabana’s friendship many years ago, which surfaced again when Punk signed with AEW and found himself working for the same company as Colt. Punk laid the entire situation out in detail in the video below. Cabana hasn’t been seen much in AEW and some may feel Punk is to blame.
As seen a few weeks ago on Dynamite, Punk went “off-script” so to speak, and addressed Hangman Adam Page during a promo, and apparently, Page has real-life heat with Punk over the Cabana situation. Punk also went nuclear on the “EVPs” of AEW (The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega.) Apparently Punk feels they’ve put false information out there about him and have placed blame on Punk for Cabana’s lack of appearances.
Punk really came off as frustrated about how many in the company aren’t putting business first, and don’t have much of the old-school wrestling mentality. Sides are definitely being taken in this and there are rumors that there was a backstage altercation following Punk’s comments with some of the EVPs and even threats to quit the company being made.
There’s a lot to take in here, but AEW is in a chaotic state right now for sure. Check out the video below as we all wait and see how Tony Khan will be able to handle this situation:
