Video: Participants for Ric Flair’s Last Match Revealed
|We are less than two weeks away from Ric Flair’s last match and finally, the main event has been announced. The rumors have been swirling for weeks now but as revealed in part two of the Flair documentary (see part 1 here) it is official that Ric Flair will team up with his son-in-law Andrade El Idolo to take on Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett.
This match may seem a bit thrown together at first glance, but in actuality, a storyline has been unfolding for weeks without many of us even realizing it. Flair mentioned on his podcast that Jay Lethal was unhappy being left off the card and Flair shared his feelings that Lethal just wasn’t on par to be on the show. The comments appeared to be a shoot since Lethal no-showed his appearance on the podcast.
As for Jarrett, he made a surprise appearance at the press conference for the event, but with his recent promotion as Senior Vice President of Live Events for WWE, actually wrestling on the show seemed unlikely, and pretty much cemented now that we know Jarrett will be involved as a special referee at SummerSlam the night before Flair’s last match. Jarrett’s light-hearted mood and the humorous vibe between him and Flair at the press conference really came off like Jarrett was just helping from a management perspective.
Well, any humor is out the window as seen in the video below, as things take a very serious turn. We won’t spoil it for those who want to watch the video, but this has to be one of the best things we’ve seen produced in many many years for a wrestling event. Even the way Flair presents Andrade El Idolo’s involvement has Andrade coming across better than he has in his entire AEW run pretty much.
You just have to see this to appreciate the build that’s been happening without many realizing (and things being taped weeks ago but kept under wraps played a big part.) Check out part two of the Ric Flair’s last Match documentary below:
