The loss the wrestling world has experienced in 2023 continues today as the legendary “Sheik” Adnan Al-Kaissie aka “General Adnan” has passed away at the age of 84.

While many may remember Adnan best for his run as Sgt. Slaughter’s manager during his Iraqi sympathizer run, Adnan had already competed for years around the world. Believe it or not, Adnan is a former WWWF tag team champion as he won the titles while competing as “Billy White Wolf” with Chief Jay Strongbow as his partner. Yes, Adnan switched between performing under his own name and under Billy White Wolf as a Native American character.

AWA fans in the 80s likely remember “Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie” as a top heel manager and wrestler in the company. Al-Kaisse even had a cameo in the 1987 Roddy Piper film “Body Slam.” In 1990 when Sgt. Slaughter brought Adnan into his army, there were likely very few who knew how much legitimacy he brought to that story.

As it turns out, General Adnan was born in Iraq and was a real-life high school classmate of Saddam Hussein. Hussein even brought Adnan to wrestle in Bagdahd in the 70s where he became a huge star. Having Adnan in the role of general udoudtely aided in getting Slaughter over during this run.

Adnan Al-Kaissie reminds us of a time when a wrestler could change characters and be successful around the world without anyone even knowing it was the same person. Whether Billy White Wolf, Sheik Adnan, or General Adnan, we remember Adnan Al-Kaissie for his worldwide achievements.
