Breaking News: CM Punk Signs with UFC!

In a move that is sending shock waves through both the wrestling and MMA worlds, CM Punk has announced a multi-fight deal with UFC that will see him compete in 2015.

The signing comes on the heels of probably the most talked about wrestling story in the past year which was CM Punk leaving WWE and then just this past week finally revealing his reasoning for leaving WWE and how he REALLY feels about the company's management.  The topic was even brought up to Vince McMahon last Monday on the "Stone Cold Podcast" with Steven Austin where McMahon said he hoped he and Punk could work together again in the future - it looks like that won't be happening anytime soon.

Flashback: A Look at Survivor Series 91: The Gravest Challenge

Survivor Series 91Anyone else remember the days when Survivor Series actually took place on Thanksgiving Eve every year?  That's right, WWE held PPVs on Wednesday night to go along with the holiday, and it really felt like the kickoff to all the festivities every year.

These days of course, Survivor Series falls in line with the rest of the PPVs and takes place on a Sunday, but that doesn't mean I don't get the urge to throw a classic Survivor Series event on during the pre-Thanksgiving festivities just like old times - and the WWE Network makes doing so even easier.

This year I'm viewing one of my favorite Survivor Series events, even though I'm not sure many old school fans would agree with me.  Survivor Series 91 was special for a variety of reasons, one of which was just that the era was an awesome time to be a fan and WWE was stacked with talent.  Another reason was the 91 edition was the first ever to have a WWE Championship match on the card.  So let's look back and re-live the Survivor Series 91 magic.

Survivor Series 2014 Results: Sting Makes his WWE Debut!

Sting debuts in WWE!
Every so often I find myself underwhelmed with upcoming WWE pay per views; the matches just don't have much behind them, nothing new seems to be happening, then BOOM WWE hits us with a show that is just flat out great and suddenly I'm hooked all over again.  The last time I remember a WWE show being that good was WrestleMania 30, and there hadn't been many others in the months before that.  Survivor Series 2014 was without a doubt one of those shows.

Of course the big story going in with the Team Cena vs. Team Authority match which would see either all of Team Cena get fired (yeah right) or Triple H and Stephanie would lose power - with Brock Lesnar not competing on the show, they really built an alternate story that delivered in more ways than I would have ever imagined...on to the results:

Jeff Jarrett's Global Force Wrestling Signs Jim Ross to Broadcast First PPV

Jim Ross Global Force WrestlingJeff Jarrett's new promotion "Global Force Wrestling" has made a few rumblings over the past few months about their launch but has held back for the most part when it comes to the promotion's actual debut or even what talent they will be using; today for the first time the company has announced a major talent acquisition and it isn't one that we will see in the ring, but rather behind the broadcast table as GFW has signed arguably the most decorated wrestling broadcaster of all time, Jim Ross.

"Good 'Ol JR" will debut with GFW as he calls the action for their presentation of New Japan's "Wrestle Kingdom 9" on January 4th.  This is a bit of a throwback since Global Force Wrestling is working with companies around the globe and presenting International events, similar to how WCW worked with New Japan in the early 90s to present the "Japan Supershow."  Jim Ross is obviously the most well known broadcaster in wrestling and is without a doubt the best man for the job, especially since GFW is presenting a real WRESTLING based product.

Team Cena vs. Team Authority - What's Really On the Line?

Team Cena vs. Team Authority
The main event for the 2014 Survivor Series will be a traditional 5 on 5 elimination match that will feature Team Cena taking on Team Authority; the match undoubtedly came together to fill the void that is left since current WWE Champion Brock Lesnar will not be on the show and a meaningful match was needed. The match did seem to pop up out of nowhere as The Authority suddenly confronted Cena about joining them or else stepping aside as the new generation takes over; Cena being his "good guy forever" self of course turned down the offer, and a Survivor Series match was born.  The stipulations for the match have been set, but the real question is, what is really on the line in this main event?

WWE Hell in a Cell 2014 Results

Hell in a Cell Ambrose vs. RollinsWWE's Hell in a Cell pay per view had a bit of a different vibe this year being there was no WWE World Heavyweight Championship match on the show; built around Dean Ambrose and John Cena's quest to gain revenge on "Authority" member Seth Rollins, the show ended up featuring two Hell in a Cell matches: Ambrose vs. Rollins and Cena vs. Orton in another of their seemingly endless number of matches.  On to the results:

Mark Henry defeated Bo Dallas

Throwaway match just to get the crowd warmed up I guess.  Bo Dallas does his comedy, Mark Henry annihilates him, pretty much end of story here.

R.I.P. Wrestling Legend Ox Baker

Rest in Peace Ox BakerPro wrestling lost another legend today as Ox Baker has passed away at the age of 80.  Newer wrestling fans may not be all that familiar with Ox, but for fans like myself that began watching in the 80s, Ox was still a pretty well known character and one that still made an impact based on his look alone (I mean look at the guy!)

Real name Douglas Baker, Ox began wrestling back in the early 60s and by the late 60s was already appearing for the WWWF.  His 6'5 350 pound frame undoubtedly made him an instant attraction which undoubtedly played a role in him appearing across the country as well as Puerto Rico during the territory days.

WWE's "Ravishing Russian" Lana "Twerking," Posing in Erotic Pics

WWE Lana BoobsWWE Superstar Rusev has quickly become the fastest rising star in WWE in the past year; his undefeated streak capped off by his interaction with The Rock a couple of weeks back on RAW have solidified the fact that Rusev will be a major player in WWE for the foreseeable future.  One major part of Rusev's success has been his mouthpiece, the "Ravishing Russian" Lana who has done almost all of the talking for Rusev in the past year and in the process made herself a heat seeking magnet in WWE.

Of course these days when any new WWE character debuts with an accent of any sort, questions immediately arise as to whether their nationality is legit or just character; in Lana's case, she was born Catherine Joy (C.J.) Perry and actually did grow up in the Soviet Union for a few years as a child.  While they accent may not be legit, the way Lana performs and her ability to speak Russian surely adds to the character; of course none of this means Lana doesn't have quite an interesting history here in the U.S. prior to joining WWE.

WWE SummerSlam 2014 Results

Brock Lesnar SummerSlam 2014In what many are calling the best SummerSlam event in many years, the 2014 edition delivered some quality in-ring action and the continuation of many stories we've seen built over the past few months.  Of course the main event of John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar delivered but maybe not in the way many expected, and the match with maybe the most build which was Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella took a turn that will undoubtedly see that feud/story continue on.  Let's jump right in to the results:

Rob Van Dam defeated Cesaro

My how the mighty have fallen; just a few months ago Cesaro was a part of one of the spotlight moments at WrestleMania 30 when he hoisted The Big Show up and over the top rope and won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and now he's losing pre-show matches.  Of course Rob Van Dam is no slouch to lose to, and they're most likely just holding Cesaro off until the right time to put him back in the spotlight, but still he has lost a huge amount of momentum lately.

Alberto Del Rio Released by WWE

Alberto Del Rio Released WWE made a fairly big move this week by releasing Alberto Del Rio; the move wasn't without some controversy as it was related to an incident that apparently occurred backstage that involved Del Rio slapping a member of the staff.  No concrete details are available, but WWE has moved quickly in parting ways with the former WWE Champion Del Rio.

Alberto debuted in WWE in 2010 with a big buildup that almost immediately threw him into the main event picture.  His promo videos built him up as a rich snob that looked down on everyone else, which made him an easy to hate character right off the bat.  Though many may have not realized, Del Rio was no rookie at the time; the son of Mexican wrestling legend Dos Caras and the nephew of WWE Hall of Famer Mil Mascaras, Del Rio had an established history in both pro wrestling as well as MMA.

Sting Makes First Ever WWE Appearance at San Diego Comic Con!

If WWE wanted to make a splash at San Diego Comic Con this year, they have done just that; not only did they advertise appearances by a unique lineup of heavy hitters like Daniel Bryan, Paul Heyman, and even Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan, but a major home-run surprise is what really created a buzz for both WWE and Mattel at comic con: the first live WWE appearance of Sting!

As most of you know, Sting's WWE 2K15 game commercial created a ton of buzz about Sting finally working with WWE and now this latest appearance only furthers the notion that Sting is indeed working with WWE since this San Diego Comic Con event was not 2K related.  While this event was for Mattel and was to showcase their new line of WWE figures (a new Sting figure is included) it only shows that Sting is on good terms with WWE and will most likely debut on WWE TV at some point in the next year.

WWE Battleground 2014 Results

WWE Battleground 2014WWE's Battleground pay per view is in the books, and as expected it was pretty much a build up show to next month's SummerSlam which is considered the second biggest show of the year behind WrestleMania.  Below are the full results of Battleground along with a brief description of all the happenings:

Adam Rose defeated Fandango

This match was pretty much a vehicle to further the situation between Fandango and Layla/Summer Rae; Rae and Layla accompanied Rose's "Rosebuds" to the ring for the match.  Of course Summer and Layla distracted Fandango and ended up slapping him, ultimately causing Fandango to suffer the loss.

Sting Set to be Featured in WWE 2K15 Video Game

WWE 2K15 StingThe yearly WWE video game release has been the platform that laid the groundwork for some big returns to the company over the past few years; in 2012 Brock Lesnar made his first appearance in years with WWE in that year's game before eventually making his in-ring return a few months later, then last year The Ultimate Warrior made his first WWE appearance in over 17 years when he filmed a commercial for the game and was a playable character as well. This year WWE's 2K15 video game will feature a legend that has never appeared in a WWE ring....until now, as it has been announced that "The Icon" Sting will be appearing in his first ever WWE game as a pre-order bonus character.

Sting has been the lone figure in wrestling that always remained true to WCW throughout his career; while others went back and forth between promotions in the 90s, Sting was THE WCW guy that never wavered.  When WCW closed in 2001 and many talents from WCW attempted a WCW run, Sting always held back and realized that he may not be used to his full potential.  In recent years, while Sting has competed mainly in TNA, every year there has been a growing up that Sting would finally jump ship and hopefully take on The Undertaker in a dream WrestleMania match.

WWE Releases Brodus Clay, Evan Bourne, Aksana, and Many More

Evan Bourne ReleasedIt seems like it's been a couple of years since WWE had one of their infamous sprees of releasing talent, but today a major housecleaning took place that released an array of talent ranging from those that haven't been seen in months to some that were seen as recent as Monday's RAW.  Some say the releases were caused by the lack of success/revenue from the WWE Network, but in reality some of these talents haven't been on TV in so long it's surprising they were even still with the company.

The complete list of released talent is: Evan Bourne, Brodus Clay, Drew McIntyre, Aksana, Jinder Mahal, Teddy Long, Curt Hawkins, Yoshi Tatsu, Camacho, JTG,  and referee Marc Harris.

Seth Rollins Makes a Main Event Move by Turning on The Shield

It's been the talk of the wrestling world in the past 24 hours - the shocking turn by Seth Rollins on his fellow Shield members Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns.  The move worked perfectly in that it got the audience talking, and even better wondering what will happen next.  The move shook up the groundwork that had been laid in these last few post-WrestleMania weeks, which undoubtedly added to the shock value of seeing Seth Rollins being the guy to break away from The Shield.

Traditionally, the weeks following WrestleMania each year are rather "slow" as WWE has to start from scratch and begin the build toward their next huge event while still wrapping up issues that carry over from the year's biggest event.  The same can be said for this year, as the fallout from WrestleMania has continued on with John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt, Daniel Bryan vs. The Authority, and The Shield vs. the reformed Evolution being the main points of interest.  The Shield vs. Evolution has been intriguing on many levels; for one The Shield becoming the breakout "good guys" in the situation taking on a group of veterans in Evolution has been all about portraying the "new school" vs. "old guard" idea.

Remember When...Bobby Heenan Debuted the WCW Title on WWF TV

Heenan WCW beltIt's been quite a while since there has been a new edition of the "Remember When..." series, so today we're bringing it back with a look at one of the most shocking (yet somewhat under recognized) moments from the early 90s.

In 1991 it was clear that the WWF and WCW were the two major pro wrestling companies in the country, and while they were in competition with one another, you would never hear one acknowledge the other.  Hulk Hogan had been the top WWF guy throughout the 80s and Ric Flair was that guy for WCW (formerly the NWA.)  The dream match between the two was the darling of wrestling magazines and fan conversation, but a real encounter was something that never seemed like it would be real...until a bombshell dropped by Bobby "The Brain" Heenan on an otherwise typical episode of "Wrestling Challenge" changed everything.

The Ultimate Warrior's 5 Most Epic Matches

As the wrestling world continues to celebrate the career of WWE Hall of Famer The Ultimate Warrior after his untimely passing this week, we've been thinking back to all the moments that the Warrior's classic matches gave us.  While many have pointed out that the Warrior was never a technical wrestler in the ring, the emotion created in his matches showed the ability he had to create epic moments that have and always will live on.  Below we share our top 5 Ultimate Warrior matches, but feel free to join in and share your own as well.

Breaking News: The Ultimate Warrior Passes Away

R.I.P. Ultimate WarriorThis has to be the most surreal post we've ever had on this site in its 7 year existence; just 24 hours after The Ultimate Warrior made his return to RAW after an 18 year absence, the newly inducted WWE Hall of Famer passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 54 as confirmed by

Just this past Saturday night, The Ultimate Warrior made his triumphant return to WWE as his induction headlined the 2014 Hall of Fame ceremony.  He also appeared before the 75,000 fans at the Superdome in New Orleans along with the rest of the Hall of Fame class at WrestleMania 30; then last night, The Warrior made what will be his final appearance as he returned to RAW, donning his signature trench coat and an Ultimate Warrior mask as he gave a speech in his signature persona that was almost eerie now that he is no longer with us just 24 hours later.

The Undertaker's Legendary Streak Ends at WrestleMania 30

The Undertaker's Streak EndsWrestleMania 30 was an event that delivered on many levels; in recent years it's felt like each year's hype for WrestleMania exceeds what takes place, but this year WWE really delivered an event that actually exceeded the hype.  One event in particular delivered a moment that will never be forgotten in the annals of WWE and WrestleMania history - the end of The Undertakers historic undefeated streak.

Leading up to WrestleMania 30 I was firmly convinced that The Undertaker would extend his streak to 22-0 without much chance of anything different.  I watched live as The Undertaker defeated Jimmy Snuka at WrestleMania 7 and every one of his victories since.  It seemed that Undertaker getting past young lions like Randy Orton and Edge at WrestleManias over the years showed that the streak would remain a solid part of WrestleMania, and if it were to ever be broken it would be to a similar young lion that would "receive the torch" so to speak; even the thoughts of John Cena eventually ending the streak seemed like a possibility since he would be the remaining "top star" to challenge it.  All of these thoughts added to the utter shock felt by the wrestling world as The Undertaker was defeated cleanly by Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30.

Will WWE Fans Get Their Magic Moment with Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 30?

Daniel Bryan WWE Champion WrestleMania 30It's WrestleMania week and WWE has created the mega-buzz that would be expected for the 30th incarnation of it's signature event.  From Axxess and the Hall of Fame to the big event itself, WrestleMania 30 is the biggest event of the wrestling year, and without a shadow of a doubt Daniel Bryan is the Superstar that fans can't get enough of going into the event.

A year ago it would have been hard to imagine that we would be here writing about Daniel Bryan's popularity being on the same level as that of a Steve Austin or Hulk Hogan, but that's exactly what's happened over the course of the year.  The "Yes Movement" has taken over the wrestling world and basically forced Daniel Bryan into the main event picture of WrestleMania.

It's Official: Hulk Hogan Set to Return to WWE and Will Host WrestleMania 30

Hulk Hogan Returns at WrestleMania 30

The rumors have circulated ever since his departure from TNA, and now it's official: Hulk Hogan is returning to WWE this Monday night on RAW and will be the host of WrestleMania 30.

It's only fitting that one of the most iconic figures in WWE and WrestleMania history will be on hand for the 30th edition of wrestling's Super Bowl, and now we know the role he will play.  Being Hogan's physical condition won't allow him to see much in-ring action, there is no doubt that Hulk still brings a huge presence to "WrestleMania season" and will enhance things like only he can do.  The nostalgia factor alone in having the guy that was carrying the company during WrestleMania 1 involved in this mega event will make it must-see for many.

Having Hulk in a "host" role for the big event opens up a lot of possibilities as far as interaction with current stars to set up their matches for 'Mania, which will undoubtedly see any current stories enhanced by Hulk's involvement. It remains to be seen how Hulk will be involved on this Monday's RAW, but the buzz created by his return is positioned perfectly to excite people even more for Monday's launch of the WWE Network.

R.I.P. Nelson Frazier aka Mabel/Viscera/Big Daddy V

R.I.P. Nelson FrazierThe wrestling world lost one of its true giants earlier today as Nelson Frazier, known to most in wrestling as "Mabel," "Viscera," or most recently "Big Daddy V" passed away from a heart attack at the age of 43.

Frazier first arrived in WWE in 1993 as part of the tag team "Men on a Mission (M.O.M)."  The group consisted of Frazier as "Mabel" along with tag partner "Mo" and their manager "Oscar."  The trio was a rap group (although Oscar was the only one that actually rapped) and had a very brief tag team title reign in 1994.  At 6'9 and over 400 pounds, it was a foregone conclusion that "Mabel" would somehow be used in a more prominent position at some point in WWE; that time came in 1995 when Men on a Mission turned heel on their manager and Mabel began a run as a singles wrestler.

News: CM Punk Reportedly Walks Out on WWE

CM Punk Leaves WWE In news that will no doubt cause quite a shake up especially during WrestleMania season, CM Punk reportedly "went home" before RAW this past week and doesn't seem to have any intention of returning any time soon.

Punk has somewhat of a history of heading for the door when he's unhappy; just a few years ago a real contractual situation was turned into a storyline where Punk walked out on the company after his infamous spree of "pipe bombs."  During that time Punk ended up re-signing with WWE and had his memorable over year long championship run.  Since then Punk has remained a popular WWE star but has really floated along without doing much of anything story wise in recent months which is what probably played a part in him finally calling it quits.

R.I.P. Mae Young

RIP Mae YoungAfter almost a week of false reports and inaccurate details on the situation, has confirmed that Hall of Famer Mae Young has passed away at age 90. Mae has to be one of the most unique superstars from the Attitude Era being she was in her 70s at the time she was involved in the memorable moments many of today's fans remember most.  Many may not realize, but Johnnie Mae Young had been a pro wrestler since the 30s, and was in many ways a pioneer who paved the way for women to be involved in pro wrestling.

Breaking: Kaitlyn Parts Ways with WWE

WWE Diva Kaitlyn Leaves WWEWWE announced today that Kaitlyn has decided to leave the company to pursue other endeavors.  It seems like it's been a while since anyone on the main roster has either decided to leave or has been released, so Kaitlyn's sudden departure is a bit of a surprise.

WWE made her TV debut with WWE in late 2010 and had a good run given the fact that it was one of the more weak periods for the WWE Divas.  While it took almost 3 years for Kaitlyn to win the WWE Diva's Championship, she was mainly featured as a top Diva and took part in some memorable feuds, most notably with former partner AJ Lee.  Kaitlyn was recently engaged to bodybuilder PJ Braun which also may have played a role in her decision as he publicly mentioned new projects she would now be working on in 2014.
