WWE Confirms Ric Flair Will Attend Hall of Fame Ceremony

It's WrestleMania week and all the festivities and coverage are about to go down.  One of the yearly highlights of WrestleMania week is the Hall of Fame ceremony held yearly the night before WrestleMania.  This year when the Four Horsemen were announced as inductees, their was immediate speculation on whether Ric Flair could/would attend the ceremony since he is currently under contract to TNA.  Today WWE ended that speculation as they have confirmed Ric Flair will be attending the Hall of Fame.

Some never questioned Flair's attendance, because he stated he wouldn't miss the event for the world and probably would have attended whether TNA approved or not.  But TNA has given their approval and Dixie Carter commented Flair's induction in a classy manner.  It looks like the Horsemen's induction will be a proper one and no angry "We Want Flair" chants will be necessary.  It will be no doubt be a memorable night seeing Ric Flair back with Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and Barry Windham, and also seeing The Nature Boy back in WWE for one night.

The WWE Hall of Fame is this Saturday night in Miami, and will air on USA this Monday before RAW.

WrestleMania 28 Card and Predictions

It's hard to believe that the hype for WrestleMania 28 began one year ago, and now we are only 1 week from the mega event.  I really think for the first time since The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 18, this year has that one match that brings out the WrestleMania magic, that of course being The Rock vs. John Cena.  This isn't a match we've seen on RAW before with a new spin on it, it didn't happen years ago or anything, but the talk about it has gone on for years.  I think next Sunday will be truly something special because of that match, and I do not see a way that it isn't THE main event on the show.

Announced card and predictions:

The Rock vs. John Cena

This will be magic, plain and simple.  If for nothing else, the stare down between the 2 in front of a rabid Miami crowd will be a "Mania moment" In itself.  The other factor that really makes this match one of those special magical Mania matches, is that it is COMPLETELY unpredictable.  I don't see how Cena could win clean in front of that Miami crowd without a flat feeling to end the show.  The ONLY way I see Cena winning and it being OK, is if Cena finally did the heel turn and opens up a whole new chapter in his career, but I don't think it will happen.  The Rock winning seems more likely, especially since there is already talk of him sticking around for more matches.  Prediction: The Rock

Triple H vs. The Undertaker - Hell in a Cell - Special Referee: Shawn Michaels

WWE has put a lot of effort into making this third WrestleMania encounter between Triple H and The Undertaker something special.  Yes, it's the third time these two have had a match at WrestleMania, the first was at WrestleMania 17, then of course last year at 27, both of which The Undertaker won.  This time they're adding both Hell in a Cell and Shawn Michaels refereeing as factors for a possible Triple H win.  They've highlighted the fact that Triple H beat the hell out of The Undertaker so bad that he was out for a year, and may have some believe the streak may come to an end.  I'm seeing HBK being involved in the finish here, probably causing Triple H to lose somehow.  Triple H isn't a full time wrestler anymore, so him ending the streak just doesn't seem to be a viable option.  Prediction: The Undertaker goes 20-0

CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho - WWE Championship

This match has the chance to be the show stealer wrestling wise.  They've added a little fire to the match in recent weeks with Jericho calling out Punk's family's drug/alcohol problems.  The story itself is OK, it's got a little fire, but the actual match will be what stands out here.  I don't see a reason just yet for Jericho to take the title, maybe if the feud continues after Mania.  Prediction: CM Punk

Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus - World Heavyweight Championship

Over 3 months ago when Daniel Bryan won the World Heavyweight Championship, I predicted that he would only hold it for a few DAYS at best.  I've been wrong on this one, as Bryan has had a successful reign as champion and even parlayed it into a heel turn that is now a great character.  His latest angle with "girlfriend" AJ has some Macho Man/Elizabeth qualities to it, and I think it would be great if they kept the title on him at Mania and kept it going.  Deep down, I think WWE is big on Sheamus and he will walk out of Mania as champion.  Prediction: Sheamus

Cody Rhodes vs. Big Show - Intercontinental Championship

It seemed for months that Big Show vs. Shaq was all set for Mania, but for whatever reason it's not happening and instead we get Cody Rhodes vs. Show in a match based on Cody bringing up Big Show's less than stellar record at Mania.  I'm hoping Cody takes this one, because Big Show winning does nothing for me, and Cody is a rising star that has developed into a really good heel. Prediction: Cody Rhodes

Team Laurinaitis vs. Team Long - For General Manager Control

This is basically the yearly "Let's get as many guys as we can who aren't in a match in a match" situation.  The teams as of now are Team Long: Santino Marella, R-Truth, Zack Ryder, Kofi Kingston, The Great Khali and 1 more TBA vs. Team Laurinaitis: Mark Henry, Dolph Ziggler, Christian, Jack Swagger and one more TBA.  It seems that Team Long is filled with underdogs while Team Laurinaitis has more power players.  The The Miz may be the X factor here, and if it turns out that Team Laurinaitis turns him down and he joins Team Long, a big Miz face run could be imminent.  If that scenario doesn't play out, I think team Laurinaitis will take it as the uncertainty of "Big Johnny" running both shows is interesting to say the least:  Prediction: Team Laurinaitis

Randy Orton vs. Kane

This match definitely feels thrown together.  2 main event guys that had nothing else to do, so throw them in a quick angle together.  I"m not totally sure I understand the issue here, as Kane brought up something that happened 6 months ago on Smackdown and is still pissed at Orton for it.  I think Kane SHOULD win this match just to keep some of his fire (no pun intended.)  Kane feuded with Cena, lost that feud clean, and needs a win back to remain in a top spot and continue this feud. Prediction: Kane

Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos vs. Beth Phoenix and Eve

WWE didn't have much going on with the Divas except for Eve's heel turn which has been great....none of the face Divas really have enough heat with Eve right now for a match, so WWE is bringing back Extra host Maria Menounos.  I don't see a problem with it, as she appears to enjoy taking part in a WWE match here and there, and she's hot so she fits what WWE wants.  Best case scenario, Kharma returns and smashes everyone......but I think this will be a win and celebration for Kelly and Maria Menunous so it can be featured on Extra etc.  Prediction: Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos.

Well there you have it, the complete WrestleMania 28 card as of now, along with my predictions.  I actually hope some of my predictions are wrong and some swerves are thrown our way.  8 matches announced and 4 hours to fill, although WWE will have extras thrown in like the Hall of Famers coming out etc.  I think the past few WrestleManias have been good, but nothing special that hadn't been seen before.  The past few were just based on the name WrestleMania and the big time feel it produces regardless.  This time, there is that 1 match that will have the once in a lifetime feel.  John Cena vs. The Rock is going to be a happening and something that very rarely comes along,in my opinion it feels like this generation's Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior.

What are your predictions for WrestleMania 28?

Shane Douglas Invades RAW

....or at least he sort of....tried to.  Last night on RAW in Philadelphia, if you happened to be looking at the crowd instead of the Kane vs. Big Show match, you might have seen someone in a mask stand up and take the mask off briefly, and that was about it.  What was going on was "The Franchise" Shane Douglas of ECW fame, trying to cause a stir in the crowd to hype his upcoming "Extreme Reunion" show in Philadelphia.....it didn't really work.

The video below shows someone sitting next to Douglas and filming all of this, as Douglas stands up, removes his jacket and mask, and gets a small reaction from the people around him.  The guy filming chants "ECW!" constantly in an effort to get an old 90's style "ECW!" chant started, but it just wasn't there.  Half the problem had to be that Douglas really hasn't been in the spotlight in years, and visually doesn't warrant the ECW response that a Sabu/Tommy Dreamer/Sandman would have.

Even though the stunt didn't go over huge live, there is a lot of talk about it on the Internet.  I don't know if it will mean anything for this new "Extreme Reunion" venture, but as they say, any publicity is good publicity.  The word is that after this inaugural reunion show, future shows will blend in new stars that turn this into an ongoing promotion.  They have a long road ahead as far as gaining anything close to the die hard following ECW had as evident by the video below.  It really seems that without Paul Heyman as the face of any of these ECW comebacks, the idea is just flat unless they can come up with something truly new and fresh.  Check out Shane Douglas's RAW invasion below:

John Cena Involved in Car Accident

In what could have been of the biggest disasters in WrestleMania history, John Cena was involved in a car accident on his way to Philadelphia for RAW.   TMZ has posted photos from the crash site where Cena was in an SUV and was rear ended by a smaller car that was also hit by a tractor trailer.

Early reports are that Cena was OK after the accident but would be checked out by WWE doctors as soon as he arrived to the arena for RAW.  WWE later posted a bit of a teaser on Twitter that Cena was "seen holding his neck" as he arrived to RAW, which of course just could be a bit of a storyline boost as Cena is set to face Mark Henry tonight, just 2 weeks out from WrestleMania 28.

Of course in typical wrestling fashion, many will see this accident as part of an angle and imply that The Rock had some part in it.  Although The Rock has promised a surprise tonight on RAW, this was incident is the real deal and not party of any angle.  This could have really messed up WrestleMania 28 had it been more serious, but thankfully it looks like it's not.  Should be interesting to see how WWE handles it tonight and if they will use it to get a bit of sympathy with Cena going into his match with Mark Henry and in 2 weeks with The Rock "injured."

NWA Wild West Holding Clinic with TNA's Robbie E.

Our friends at NWA Wild West in Arizona sent along news that they will be holding a pro wrestling clinic hosted by TNA Television Champion Robbie E. in Tempe, AZ on March 27th.  The clinic will be open to anyone that is at least 18, and has an interest in learning what it takes to make it to the next level in pro wrestling.

Many may assume Robbie E. is pretty new to the business to be holding a clinic since he has only been seen in TNA for the past couple of years, but in actuality Robbie has been wrestling for 12 years and has quite a resume.  Some of you may remember him competing for years as "Rob Eckos," even doing some work for WWE and competing all over the east coast wrestling scene for years before arriving in TNA.  This seems like a great opportunity for any talents that are looking to make some contacts and get some direction as far as getting a shot at the big time.

After the clinic, NWA Wild West has a stacked show lined up that will feature Robbie E., NWA World Champion Adam Pearce, Colt Cabana, and Joey Ryan.  It's good to see an indy promotion bringing in names and creating interest by spreading the word, something rarely seen in the indies right now.  You can check out more information on the Robbie E. clinic and the big NWA Wild West show on March 27th at NWAWildWest.com

Kharma Lost Her Baby, Lied About Birth

I believe Kharma may be going for the record here at PWR for most bizarre stories written about 1 person.  It started when she was released by TNA for punching out Bubba the Love Sponge and all the controversy that followed that situation.  Then in the middle of her big debut WWE run, Kharma announced she was pregnant and would have to leave WWE for a few months.  Anyone that saw the Royal Rumble this year saw that Kharma made her return in the Rumble match, but she hasn't been mentioned on TV since which left many wondering about Kharma's full time return.

Her appearance at the Rumble also had many wondering the status of her pregnancy and how it turned out.  Shortly after the Rumble Kharma revealed that she gave birth to a healthy baby boy just a few weeks before the match, and it seemed like she was simply recovering a bit more before her full time WWE return.

Now things have gotten a bit odd/sad again, as TMZ of all places revealed that Kharma (real name Kia Stevens) lost her baby before she was able to give birth, and lied to friends due to her emotional state.  It's a really odd thing to just lie about, but a sad situation none the less.  No word on how WWE will handle this situation or Kharma's return, but Kharma will be working with foundations to raise awareness about these types of situations.  Hopefully her WWE career can pick up and turn into the long run we've been waiting for.

Hulk Hogan Has a....Sex Tape?

Well, not much can be said about this one.  Of all the possible sex tape controversies that could involve a WWE Diva.....or even a TNAKnockout......what we get is a reported....Hulk Hogan sex tape.  TMZ reports that the tape is being shopped around, and features the Hulkster in some....compromising situations with an unidentified brunette - who is neither his ex wife Linda or current wife Jennifer.

Rumors will no doubt swirl that this may involve a TNA Knockout since TNA is where Hogan currently works, but there is no word on when this tape was even recorded so it could have been years ago.  Hulk's lawyer responded to TMZ and it sounds like Hulk had no idea all of this was being filmed, and seems pretty pissed about it.  Talk about an image killer.

The tape has already been shopped around to porn king Vivid Entertainment, but no word on if they will make an attempt to buy it.  Something tells us Hulk will do all he can to make sure the video doesn't see the light of day.  It is publicity, but I'm sure this isn't the kind Hulk Hogan had in mind for himself or TNA Wrestling.  More on this story as it develops (or hopefully just quietly goes away.)

Can WWE Force Even Half the Fans to Cheer Cena Against The Rock?

Last Monday sparked a lot of talk in the ongoing John Cena vs. The Rock feud.  1 year ago, history was made as John Cena vs. The Rock was announced as WrestleMania 28 main event a year in advance.  At WrestleMania 27 last year, The Rock vs. Cena was the spotlight of that show even though the actual match was Cena vs. The Miz.  This year all the focus is on the actual match between the 2, and up until this past Monday it has been apparent that The Rock will without a doubt be the overwhelming crowd favorite in his hometown on the grandest stage of them all.

On Monday, the Rock made his first live appearance on RAW to begin the hype for his WrestleMania 28 match with Cena.  The Rock had many comebacks and cut downs for Cena, had the crowd going wild, and brought the electricity in general that The Rock always brings.  Of course all of this brought Cena out to the ring to confront The Rock, but the verbal warfare that Cena unleashed this time had the line of reality blurred for many people, and seemingly even left The Rock a bit speechless.

Cena hit the Rock with his usual "You're never here" and "You're egotistical" type stuff, but it was Cena calling out The Rock for having notes on his promo written on his wrist that really raised some eyebrows.  The Rock genuinely seemed pissed off about being called out on this, and it seemed like he had no clue the line was coming.  I personally don't think it's a big deal to have a few points written down that he wanted to hit in his promo, but Cena was able to spin it and use it to show that The Rock is just an insincere asshole.

The word going around this week is that WWE is dead set on getting the fans to be split 50/50 in the Rock/Cena match.  Personally, while Cena may have gotten the better of Rock in Monday's promo, the fans STILL cheered The Rock, and The Rock's promo was dead on in saying that fans are completely sick of seeing Cena every single solitary week.  The Rock comes around enough to keep his iconic status, and there is no way in hell that anywhere even close to half the fans will cheer for Cena in Miami in my opinion.

It will be interesting to see how WWE handles the feud as the Road to WrestleMania pushes on.  The Rock will be at RAW live again this Monday, and this situation will no doubt continue.  I don't see any big number of fans jumping ship to Cena's side, but WWE may keep trying.  I expect this match to be like Rock vs. Hogan at WrestleMania 18, with The Rock being in the Hogan role this time.  The ONLY way Cena could win this in my eyes is finally going through the full fledged heel turn.  Other than that, the goofy, smiling, forced down our throat Cena winning will be an all out disaster.....but somehow I don't see The Rock allowing that to happen.
